Archerton Shoot

Archerton is a historic Royal Hunting Lodge where discerning sportsman have enjoyed traditional game for many years. Set at the centre of the stunning Dartmoor National Park, there is no greater backdrop to experience excellent, rare sport. The only shoot on the high moor, Archerton is uniquely placed as a sporting estate. Spring to Autumn the wild moor, deep valleys, steep woodland ridges and stonking hedges create one of the finest simulated game shoots in the West Country.

Archerton is a true reflection of your traditional, quintessential English game day offering a vast variety of unique and exceptional drives that present challenging clays -‘birds’ akin to few other estates. We pride ourselves on the gun never seeing the state-of-the-art Promatic game trailers and discrete, high tower flurry launchers. Archerton offers exceptional coveys of fast partridge over 20ft flowering rhododendron hedges, to high pheasants from all angles, over steep woodland ridges and deep valleys; ‘birds’ the West Country is famous for.

We shoot up to 7 pegs per day over five drives, 2 guns per peg which allows you to load for each other and spot any escaping ‘birds.’ We draw pegs in the morning, moving up 2 and ensure each team will see at least 4000 birds throughout the day. Numbers of guns and shooting days are strictly limited ensuring each day is exclusive to you and any guests you choose to invite. Coupled with unstinting hospitality and in house menus using the most local seasonal ingredients, these days will replicate every aspect of being hosted by a high-quality family shoot.

Throughout the day you are hosted by the Shoot Captain, a member of the family, and our terrific team, who will ensure your every need is met with consummate ease. At our heart, the main aim at Archerton is to always do our best to make sure that you feel like part of the family; we want you to feel like an honoured guest, never just a customer.

With that in mind individual teams can have their days tailored to their parties’ personal requirements to create bespoke days. We offer on peg coaching, instruction, gun hire and the option of pre-ordering cartridges to collect at Archerton all at small cost in comparison to the large corporate days nearer the city.

Aside from the day, we pride ourselves on our ability to host parties for the whole weekend for up to 14 people. Archerton can accommodate 14 people across 7 bedrooms, so either arrive the night before or stay for longer. A chance to really enjoy the full extent of what Archerton and the Stunning Dartmoor National Park have to offer. Black tie dinners, Sunday Lunches, and special occasions can all be arranged on request. Perfect for birthdays, parties or that small weekend away with your team.
