At Cotswold Fieldsports, we provide simulated clay shoot days which are as close to a game shoot day as possible to extend the enjoyment of shooting into the summer months in the beautiful Cotswold countryside.
Our days are generally suited to more experienced guns, however we welcome less experienced guns and newcomers when accompanied by an instructor.
Starting at the local pub with breakfast provided, each day begins with a briefing before moving on to shoot a couple of drives before elevenses.
The clays are designed to simulate driven pheasant and partridge and more drives will be shot after the elevenses break.
Our days can easily be tailored to suit your requirements, taking into account the experience of the team of guns.
Cotswold Fieldsports also holds a number of unique Clay Shoot Gundog Training Days throughout the year to allow those with peg dogs to practice their skills ready for the shooting season.
The days simulate a driven game shoot day with clays for the guns and dummy retrieves for the dogs at the end of each drive, giving the guns a chance to train their dogs in as close a scenario as possible to a game day.
Novice and experienced dogs and handlers are welcome.
Bookings can be made directly from the website via are online booking system.
Hospitality
Our simulated shoot days begin and end at The Plough Inn, Cold Aston who provide all the food for the days. A firm favourite with the locals, The Plough are proud to support the local farmers and have an ever changing, seasonal menu always using the freshest and best ingredients they can get their hands on.
A typical menu for the day would be: Breakfast - Bacon rolls, orange juice, tea and coffee. Elevenses - Locally sourced deli snacks, Slogasms (sloe gin and champagne cocktails) and bottled beer Lunch - 3 course lunch from the pub set menu with drinks
Topography
The historic, ice-age carved valleys of the Cotswolds make for an idyllic setting for our days. Set just outside Bourton-on-the-Water, Grove Farm boasts a variety of challenging valleys for the more experienced gun as well as more gently rolling drives for the less experienced guns looking to improve their shooting.
We also have grounds at Stroud.

A great day out. The team running the day were superb. Everything ran very smoothly, although I did't have a dog (was just there for shooting) I think that the concept is great and it provided a wonderful platform for potential gun dogs. Loads to shoot at, good atmosphere and will definitely go again. Thanks to Andy and the team

A brilliant sim day to keep things going outside of the season - with the dog training a welcomed addition. Superb hospitality and run by great people. Thoroughly recommended.

This was my first simulated day and the over all experience was fantastic the main aim of the day was to get the dogs used to shooting and to do some training. The organisation and information around safety and how/what will happen through out the day was clear and well thought out. The team working on the day were very approachable and gave some good advice as to how to improve my dogs working performance. I will be booking again soon once the weather warms up a little!
