Highfield Sporting Clays

Hospitality is included with breakfast baps, tea and coffee served on arrival. Elevenses comprise soft drinks, beers, and snacks followed by a cold platter of pies and sausage rolls in the field.

Expect four or five drives depending on the day with a varied presentation of clays as we take advantage of the ground here at Highfield. Expect some fast driven 'partridges' some soaring 'pheasants' and flighting 'ducks'.

Formed from the former Parklands of the Denton Park estate, Highfield is a mixture of grazed grasslands and mature woodlands with valleys formed from water running from the moorlands at the top of the estate down into the river basin at the the bottom. Pegs are placed on high ground, and down towards the valleys formed by the becks sending water down into the river Wharfe. The land is hilly and rugged so good boots are essential. Parking is on flat land accessible by most vehicles (leave the Ferarri at home) and we transport you in the gun bus to the pegs.

Richard and Darren are your hosts who are assisted by the team from the game shooting side of the estate with many years experience hosting shooting at Highfield. The estate is home to formal game shooting and has been hosting shooting for the past 30 plus years. Our simulated game days are run with a nod to the formality and structure of a typical day's shooting, combined with the more relaxed atmosphere of a sim day. We encourage dressing for the occasion but casual attire is more than welcome, especially on a hot day!

Non-shooting guests are more than welcome to join you on the peg at £15. Please ensure that your guests are wearing safety glasses, ear protection, and a cap.

Highfield Sporting Clays is located in the village of Denton, just 15 minutes drive from the town of Ilkley. Ilkley is accessible by train from Leeds and Bradford with taxis located at the station. Leeds Bradford Airport is just a 30 minute drive away.

We require all guests to wear safety glasses, ear protection, and a cap. Bring your own cartridges, expect to shoot somewhere in the region of 500 depending on how fast you shoot and your partner can load! We suggest 21g loads at that volume of shooting. Fibre wads are required, plastic wads cannot be shot over our land due to livestock. All guns must have shooting insurance such as provided by CPSA, BASC, or other shooting dedicated firms.
